The avenue itself does most of this damage, and none of it happens above ten miles an hour. Delivery vehicles squeeze past double-parked cars with inches to spare and clip a mirror housing, which transfers straight into the door pane behind it. A ladder or a length of pipe swings out of a truck bed and finds a quarter window. Someone opens a door hard into the car alongside and cracks the glass rather than denting the panel.
